Carnes San Martín promotes sustainability in local schools with their program “Recycle and Receive”

To promote a recycling culture, and support neighboring schools in Nandaime, Carnes San Martin launched a program that allows schools to exchange plastic waste for useful products such as picnic tables, desks, chairs, among others products that are made from the recycled plastic that they collect themselves.

What is this program about?

The “Recycle and receive” program consists of providing schools with trash bins for sorting plastic waste. Schools not only collect the plastic waste that they generate internally, they also carry out cleaning days in its surroundings. The collected plastic is picked up by Carnes San Martín and transported to  TABLECO; A company that processes the discarded plastic and transforms it into a variety of products.

Then, Carnes San Martín returns to the schools to deliver the products made from the recycled plastic. The more plastic that the schools collect the more products they can receive in return.

With the “Recycle and Receive” program, we seek to highlight the importance and the sustainability in recycling. This practice will make an impact both socially and environmentally, and demonstrate how we can all benefit from keeping our schools, streets and communities clean.
